Welcome to Somerby Parish Council
The Parish of Somerby is located in East Leicestershire close to the border with Rutland and comprises the villages of Burrough on the Hill, Leesthorpe, Pickwell and Somerby.
The surrounding countryside is very attractive and is often referred to as 'High Leicestershire'. This is because much of the Parish is several hundred feet above sea level and there are often superb views to be found. Although predominately a rural community there are a significant number of successful business enterprises in the local area.
Don't forget it is easy to access the Parish Council's services at any time of the day, without having to wait for the Parish Office to be open. Our email facility can be used at a time to suit you – the Parish Council staff can then respond to your query directly. Please remember to include your email and telephone details! We welcome your comments and suggestions.
Your council is made up of a number of councillors who meet regularly to make decisions on the work and direction of the council. As an elected body we are responsible to you, the people we represent. Attending a council meeting is the best way to find out what we do. Look in the Meetings Calendar to find dates for our public meetings.
Where do we get our money from?
Each year a sum of money called a 'precept' is collected through your council tax. This money is used by the council to improve facilities and services for local people.
The Parish Office is usually open on Tuesday & Thursday mornings between 10am & 12noon. Outside these hours you can leave a message or send us an email.
